Disney, Pixar announce new toons
After the release of "Monsters University" in summer 2013, Pixar's next two pics will revolve around dinosaurs and what happens in the human mind. The toons don't yet have official titles. "The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs," as Disney presented the film at the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, will bow holiday 2013. Bob Peterson (who penned "Finding Nemo" and "Up") helms. Project tells the dino tale from the angle of what might have happened if asteroids hadn't wiped out the prehistoric beasts and they were still alive today. "Up"-director Pete Docter is helming "The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind."That film hits theaters summer 2014. Pixar and Walt Disney Animation chief John Lasseter made the announcements after introducing first looks at "Brave," Pixar's first fairy tale, "Planes," a spinoff of the "Cars" franchise, "Wreck-It Ralph" and "Monsters University," a prequel to "Monsters Inc.," which brought out Billy Crystal on stage to discuss his return to the film, 10 years after the original was released. Pixar is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Contact Marc Graser at marc.graser@variety.com
